Sending this out this morning, and since some are familar with SGallan, (Scott Gallan) and Spider, (Dr. Jack Alkon) from the National forums I thought you may be interested in listening in today, and if not live, then the archives.
The Virtual Pew Live radio program today will be somewhat different. Today’s program will feature Dr. Jack Alkon and Scott Gallan. Both are unique for a number of reasons. While one lives on the East Coast, and another in the South Western United States, they both love wrestling, love family, and have experienced tragedy and hardships in relation to their families. There is also something else uniquely different about these two men who will be appearing on a Christian oriented radio program that uses as its moniker, The Online Sensible Non-Church Jesus-Following Gathering, they are both Atheist.
The unique friendship between Mike Furches, of the Virtual Pew, and Jack Alkon and Scott Gallen is a friendship that has lasted for several years. It isn’t unusual to see them standing up for and supporting each other, whether it be a difficult time one is going through, or the support of a cause one is working for. One would have to wonder, what is it about these three individuals, with such differing opinions that would draw them to a close friendship.
The Virtual Pew Live radio program will be looking at the relationship between these three, and the belief systems they have formed and friendships they have developed, despite such differing opinions regarding the existence of God. Along the process, not only will each individual share some of their experiences in life and with each other, they will share how they come to their own belief system and what it takes to garnish the respect of someone different.
This program will not be a debate between Christianity and Atheism, instead, it is hoped that it will be a program that will show that people of varying beliefs can get along, and at the same time develop appropriate friendships. It will hopefully, also look at developing an understanding of how Christians can better understand Atheists, and hopefully how Atheists can better understand Christians. Not in a way that would create dissention and argument, but understanding and compassion.
The program will air at 5 PM EST, 4 PM CST, 3 PM MST, and 2 PM PST at
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thevirtualpew While the program normally takes calls into the show at 646-716-8587, it will not take calls into todays program until after the first hour.
