Can you wrestle unaffiliated in Kansas or do you have to belong to a club?

Perhaps Richard will have the official answer but I believe you can wrestle throughout the year, unattached.
But come Sub time, you must belong to a club!

The only time I have heard Unattached used - normally applies in college when a student/athlete redshirts. My question would be who is the unattached person practicing with the majority of the time. I would just say sign up under that club. Some kids jump around clubs to get different practice partners. That happens if they (the kid or the parent) find out there is not anyone his or her size to push each other and make practice beneficial to both kids. What would be the benefit of being unaffiliated?

If you son has plenty of partners and plenty of practices with an unsanctioned group it would seem like the way to go. From a clubs stand point how would you like to have a kid on your team that never attends any practices. And from a parents stand point my wrestler gets all that he needs from these practices and anything more would just be to much for him. What other options are there?

One advantage from practicing with a sanctioned club would be the insurance!!
But once again, they cannot enter the USAW Kansas Kids State tournament series unless they are a member of a sanctioned club!
