Observations of Missouri

125lbs - Sorry Wisdom, but your redshirt is going to be pulled. Dolan looks like he could get turned by a 8 year girl that read a book on wrestling. Gets turned with NO effort.
133lbs - McCormick is developing quickly, has a huge gas tank, not a ton of offense, but very solid...good showing for him.
141lbs - Schavrein looked good, Prater just wound up on the upper end of more scrambles, but if Schavrein wrestles like that at 141 all year, he has an opportunity to AA
149lbs - Weist did little more than hand fight and block leg attempts, no real offense at all
157lbs - Wright did not look like himself, not sure what to think here...never opened up
165lbs - Back to the 3-2 Marable of last year, no matter who hes wrestling
174lbs - Henderson looked solid with a nice blast double in the first, but lets people in his legs too often
184lbs - Max could have easily lost this match, didnt think Dergo was even in the same league, but Askren let him in on the legs too much and couldnt funk out everytime
197lbs - Haynes kept the match close, doing an awesome job fighting off a takedown at the end of the first...scored the winning takedown on a counter
285lbs - Ellis is a machine, the gas tank of a marathon runner and constant attacking...looks like he has made even more strides from his national championship run

I attended the dual last night and it was very cool to see Brent Haynes get his first ever varsity win against the No.12 ranked wrestler in the nation (Patrick Bond). Bond is no slouch either...4X HS Champ and 2X junior National Champ. WOW!
Since Brent is a Missourian the crowd was very excited and Brent added to this by doing a little Hulk Hogan imitation just before his hand was raised. By far the most surprising/exciting match of the night!
