When Salina's and Topeka's results are posted you will have a better idea. I believe high placers in either one of these would have to be considered as potential State Placers. Of course, the upcoming Wichita-Park City tournament will also provide even more insight.

Part of the problem in guessing now would be who is going to end up at 120, 130, or 140. My son started the season at 130 and is now at 120. I believe that if Marvio Tischhauser of Abilene ends up at this weight that the list would start with him. I think he has won the State Title almost every year since he started wrestling. I know for a fact he has won at least the last five. Marvio is a very special wrestler. Aldon Isenberg who this year won the November 2002 Cliff Keen Classic would also be a strong contender if he ends up at 130 (he was wrestling 140 at Topeka).

I have noticed from some tournament results that Ryan Garrett of Team Lightning, is wrestling and winning at 130. Ryan has won state titles the last two years in a row and would definitely be a strong contender.

I know a little about some wrestlers from the Kansas City area of District 1 that have wrestled well at this weight this year. Jordan Johnston, Lansing Slammers, CJ Randall, Linn County and Josh Sanches of the Johnson County Renegades are all strong wrestlers from our area who could make noise at State this year. Hopefully some people from other parts of Kansas will give you some more information.

There are three other wrestlers who my son has wrestled in the last two years that also need to be mentioned. I have seen that Cody Jasper of Wichita East, Dylan Bowman of Wellington, and Jeffery O'Daniel of Parsons have been wrestling in this weight and have been winning tournaments. These three could also be strong threats at State this year, too at 12 & Under 130. I am sure that there are others very worthy of mention.

Also a major oversight I made was Gabe Mason of Baldwin City who won the Johnson County Classic at this weight this year and has placed high at State before. I also need to mention Blair DeBord of Manhattan and Paine Taylor of Clay County both whom have placed high at State and have done well at this weight this year.

J. Murray:
You are welcome. I am afraid I have left out some deserving of recognition, and I apologized to anyone I did leave out. Tell the O'Daniel's hello. My son had about five real battles with Jeffery last year and they are a real nice family.

No, right now Jacob is at 120. He started the season out in December at about 127 but with practice and a bout with the flu he went down to 122 by the time he was wrestling meets in January. He had a difficult time at that weight against Johnston and CJ Randall. He wrestled three weeks in Missouri at 125 and decided he wanted to try to lose a couple of pounds to wrestle 120 instead of 130 for the rest of the Kansas season. He did that for the first time this past weekend in Topeka. We wish that Kansas had a 125 like Missouri. This is the first time he has ever tried to lose weight to make a weight. It was his decision which we allowed since he is doing it the correct way and it was only a couple of pounds. Good luck to Jeffery and the rest of your club for the remainder of the season.

Jared Hensley from Rose Hill will be at 12 & under 130! He has been wrestling middle school and will not have any kids matches until subs.

That is why I said it is difficult without knowing who will end up at the individual weights by the time subs start. In November 2002 Ghens, myself and a few others piggybacked on last year's discussion of this weight and age group. I learned in that discussion that Jared Hensley has won State titles in 2001 & 2002 (his first year of 12 & under). I have never seen him wrestle but he certainly would have to be at the top of any list in his weight class. If anyone is interested in this weight group, you can learn more about potential tough opponents from Ghens' side of the State by looking into last year's topic which was probably last discussed in December or November. Thank you for the update on Jared, Ghens.

I agree Jordan Johnston has an excellent chance to place in the top 5 at State. He is very strong and fast. Simply said he is a very good athlete who should become an excellent high school wrestler. What is it about that Johnston name and becoming good wrestlers in Kansas (seems like there is a guy name Joe at the University of Iowa doing pretty good with the same last name).

Another decent wrestler in 130 12 and under is Gabe Mason. He beat Jordan Johnston in the finals of the Johnson county tourniment. I think Johnston can beat him, he was just having a real bad day. It wont happen if they wrestle again. I garauntee.

Aldon Isenberg is in this weight class. I know he won the kickoff classic. I've only seen him loose one match and that was to Tishauser who will be at 140.

Yes, I hope someone will post the results from this age/weight bracket Sat. night after the classic !! Also, it would be nice to see the 120, and 140 results.

Well I know Marvio Tishauser is going to be at 140. Is your son going to be at 130. I know at the first of the season you said he weighed about 117, has he grown that much.
