Rencountre Named RMAC Wrestler of the Week
Feb. 16, 2010
Fort Hays State wrestler Chance Rencountre, junior from Pawhuska, Okla., earned RMAC Wrestler of the Week honors for his effort this past week (Feb. 8-14) in dual action. Rencountre is the starter at 184 pounds for the No. 15 ranked Tigers.
Rencountre, a transfer from Labette Community College, went 4-0 in dual action last week. On Thursday, he helped the Tigers to a 45-0 shutout of Chadron State by pinning his opponent Chris Leak. On Sunday, Rencountre helped the Tigers to wins over Truman and Central Missouri with another win by fall and a shutout major decision.

In his final match on Sunday, Rencountre upset No. 4 ranked Austin Boehm of Nebraska-Omaha by a 13-9 decision, in what was arguably the most intense match of the dual with the nation’s top-ranked team. It was the second time this season that he defeated Boehm, after ousting him in his home arena earlier this year with a 59-second pin at the Nebraska-Omaha Open.

Rencountre is not in the individual rankings at 184 as of Tuesday (Feb. 16), but he has been on a tear, winning his last 13 matches.
