So, I am sure some people are curious about my signature I have, but being a journalist, I have run across many people that have overcome tragedy, especially PTSD. I was curious if any biblical scholars are out there as to what their personal thoughts are when someone says, "Praise the Lord" as a Christian, are they talking about Jesus or God?

your answer is both. god the father--god the son & the holy spirit are the same person. jesus is god with flesh.

I agree with Luellen:

Jesus was not God but God's son. When Jesus was baptized by John, God came to earth in spirit proclaimed Jesus as his son.

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him". (Matthew 3:16-17)

God sent his son Jesus, to earth in human flesh. To live and model a Godly perfect life and then be killed and spill his blood to atone for all of our sins. As humans, we have no chance of being perfect. We became dirty sinners the moment the forbidden fruit was eaten by Adam and Eve.

Jesus was Gods son and gift to us, to allow us a chance to be forgiven for our sins. That is why Jesus is accepted as our Savior proclaiming that we believed he was the Son of God and we want to him to have the controls of our lives.

This washes us of our sin and gives us a chance to go to heaven when we leave this earth.

This is why I believe this. I put parenthesis on the words that helped me to understand this.

genesis-1vs26-- And god said let (us) make man in (our) own image, after (our) likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 1vs1-- In the beginning was the word, and the word was with god, and the word was god.

John 10vs30-- I and my father are one.

1st John 5vs20-- And we know that the son of god is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true god, and eternal life.

Matthew 28vs19-- Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost:

Romans 9vs5-- Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

The important thing is that God put on flesh & became man to die for our sins & paid the price in full.

Jesus is God, as Luellen has correctly stated. He has always been God, as is clearly stated in John 1:1 and 1:14. Titus 2:13 says "Looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus." God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are all equal in their divinity, yet represented in three persons. The Scriptures are clear that these three Persons together are one and only one God (Deut. 6:4). John 10:30 and 33 explain that the Father and the Son are one. First Corinthians 3:16 shows that the Father and the Spirit are one. Romans 8:9 makes clear that the Son and the Spirit are one. And John 14:16, 18, and 23 demonstrate that the Father, Son, and Spirit are one.

So... "Praise the Lord" is equal to "Praise God".
