I guess I am wondering about the unattached wrestlers. I was under the understanding that UNA wrestler's score didn't go towards their home teams score? Am I wrong? I am curious what happens to those points when they do win. Is it go into the UNA score shown in the standings...or just not show up anywhere?

Also wondering where we can find the brackets and team scores, if they're online?

Thanks for the update and from my understanding there is a team X and thats where the points go. There have been a few upsets Hernandez from newton knocking off 2 seed and lynch from lawrence losing to manhattan unattached kid at 132. I also would like to see brackets if possible. Thanks.

They are on team UNA, but are awarded 0 team points. I am just assuming this by looking at the team scores as UNA has 0 points.

Manhattan 260 plus points
Newton around 180 points
Lawrence around 180 points

Manahattan had 15 medals (only 14 guys score)- nice weekend for a very deep team.

I agree! Manhattan is deep. Even their JV kid made the finals at 132.

Will Geary (285) from the Topeka High team is a beast. I think this is the first time I have seen him wrestle, and I am very impressed.

I talked to some Topeka High teachers last weekend and they said he is a beast in the classroom too, and a great kid on top of that. Then I got to see him wrestle, what a talented kid.

Good Morning Kansas wrestling community. Have in your thoughts & prayers for Lawrence wrestler Andrew Denning a junior. He suffered a head concussion yesterday morning in the semifinal bout. He is one of our Kansas good kids and today if attending service please think of him and his family for his complete and healthy recovery. Coach Randy Streeter send me a text last night and Andrew will be out for two weeks. OK, off to help Randy Hinderliter with a Bronze Clinic this morning at 10:00 a.m. in the MHS wrestling mat room. How was the Unattached wrestling list worked out?

Did every team have the opportunity to bring a few extras?

I think it is a fine idea - If you have a solid wrestler behind a stud, and there is an open bracket. let them in the tournament. Doesnt do them any good to go to a jv tournament and kill kids.

Or are we taking "points away" from other teams by having unattached wrestlers winning matches and placing?

I thought it worked out ok. Less byes in the brackets, giving kids an opportunity to show their skills at the varsity level, something teams are looking at as we get closer to February. I think it changes the dynamics of the tourney slightly, but not enough to hurt it. More good then bad. In the end its all prep for February and kids need matches, attached or unattached.

Just my opinion as a fan in the stands.

Also Coach Gonzales, I let the Denning family know of your request for prayers. Thanks
