The Donna Woofter Memorial Scholarship is presented to an outstanding graduating senior who best displays Donna’s love and enthusiasm for the sport of wrestling. The recipient of the scholarship is judged on his/her commitment, sportsmanship, accomplishments and dedication to the sport. Donna began her love affair with wrestling as a Jr. High and then a High school cheerleader in Hoxie KS. She was a devoted wrestling fan who had a passion for the sport and those who participated in it. She spent many tireless hours helping to start the Kansas City Wrestling Club, and each and every child who came through the program was a recipient of her complete commitment and devotion. Throughout the years she developed many close relationships with the children and parents. This is exemplified by the number of volunteers from the many communities that donate their time to make the Donna Woofter Memorial tournament a success and allow us to provide this scholarship. Donna like so many others involved in the sport, gave of her heart and soul to promote wrestling, and to ensure every child who wanted to participate was afforded the opportunity. There were very few things that gave her as much joy as to watch a young child win his/her first wrestling match. To her there would be no greater honor than to have a scholarship in her name to enable a young person’s desire to continue to compete in the greatest sport of all.
Dustin Reed has been selected to receive this year's $300 scholarship. Each year funds have been set aside from the Donna Woofter Memorial Novice Tournament. We have reached a point where we want to start awarding $300 each summer. Dustin's dedication and enthusiasm have been outstanding throughout his career. Congratulations Dustin!!
