http://fhsuathletics.com/news/2013/11/18/WREST_1118130341.aspxFort Hays State had five place-winners this weekend at the Central Missouri Open in Warrenburg, Mo., highlighted by Tanner Kriss' runner-up finish at 197 pounds.
Kriss finished 3-1 on the day, picking up falls over Mickey Pelfrey (Maryville University) in 2:17 and Nick Lovejoy (Central Missouri) in 2:21. After a 2-1 decision against Julian Smith of McKendree University, ranked eighth in the nation, Kriss fell, 10-2 to Austin Schafer of Oklahoma State University in the Championship match.
Also in the 197 division, Zack Grimes finished sixth, going 2-3 on the day with wins over Ryan Beltz (Maryville University) and Todd Brier (Central Missouri).
Newcomer Trey Page took third in the 285 pound weight class, finishing the day at 7-1 after battling his way through the consolation bracket. After dropping his first match of the day to King College's Cody Davis (9-8 decision), Page rattled off seven consecutive victories in the wrestleback rounds – starting with a pin in 1:40 over Caleb Braun of Central Missouri. Page would settle the score with Davis later on in the day, defeating him 6-2 in the consolation semifinals. An 11-1 major decision over King College's Garrett Fosdyck sealed third place for Page.
Adam Ludwin finished fourth at 125 pounds, going 4-2 on the day. Ludwin started the day with a 15-0 technical fall over Jerin Hudgens (Missouri Valley Club), and reached the semifinals with decisions over Jaret Singh (Maryville University) and Malacai Collins (Central Missouri).
At 149 pounds, Noah Killip went 4-2 and picked up fifth-place honors. In the first round, Killip won by tech fall over Lane Lassister (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M University), 15-0, and followed it up with decisions over Blake Pepper (Missouri) and Matt De Rosa (Missouri Valley Club). After falling the semifinals and consolation semifinals, Killip earned fifth due to medical forfeit by Maryville University's Darick Lapaglia.
The Tigers return to the mat next week on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Nebraska-Kearney Open in Kearney, Neb.

Rodenbaugh started his day with a 9-4 decision win against Dakota Napoli and then won by major decision, 10-2, over Brandon Oshiro.
After a loss to Brendan Murphy, who placed second, Rodenbaugh got three straight wins in the consolation bracket. He won all three by decisions (11-7, 10-4 and 9-8). In the third place bout, he fell to Dean Heil of OSU to finish in fourth. He went 5-2 on the day.
At 149 lbs., Taylor Moeder went 4-2. After dropping his first match, Moeder got four wins in the consolation bracket. He started with a pin at 1:02 then got a tech fall win with a 16-1 score. He record back-to-back major decisions with 16-3 and 15-2 scores. His day ended with a loss to Kyle Williams of MKU, who placed third.
Colton Duhr went 2-2 in the 157 lb. class. He won a 7-4 decision over Vito Krischke and then lost a close 5-4 decision to Andrew Simmons. In the consolation bracket, Duhr picked up a 6-2 decision win over Austin Allen, but his day ended with a 4-2 loss to Brennan Johnson of UCM.
Michael Kubik went 2-2 in the 174 lb. class. After a loss to start his day, he won two in the consolation bracket. He won a 4-2 decision and then won a 7-0 decision. He lost a very close 5-4 match to Dylan Harmon of UCO.
The Jets travel to the Holiday Inn Open on Saturday (Nov. 23) in Kearney, Neb. The event starts at 9 a.m.
