NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M COLLEGE RELEASES 2014-15 WRESTLING SCHEDULE:

The Golden Norsemen open the season on Sunday, October 26th at 2:00 PM with the annual Blue and Gold Intra-Squad match in the Student Activities Center. The marquee matchup for November will have the defending National Champion Norsemen wrestling program raising the bar with a home dual meet against NCAA Division 1 perennial power Oklahoma State on Sunday, November 16, at 4:00 PM. This is an exciting challenge for the second year program. Oklahoma State finished third at the 2014 NCAA Division 1 Championships and is currently a pre-season 2015 top ten team. Also on November 16th Oklahoma State will wrestle South Dakota State at 6:00 PM. Oklahoma State is coached by two time Olympic Gold Medal winner John Smith. These matches will be held in the NEO Field House and will include an opportunity for purchasing reserved seating in advance.

November will be challenging for the NEO wrestlers with NJCAA powers North Idaho College and Colby Community College, Kansas visiting NEO on the weekend of Saturday, November 8th, starting at noon. Finishing out the home schedule will be another NJCAA power, NEOSHO Community College, Kansas on Thursday, January 15, at 7 PM, and NAIA power Oklahoma City University coming to Miami on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00.

Other NJCAA matches will involve Pratt, Kansas (away) on November 13th; NEOSHO, Kansas in Chanute on December 11th; and Colby, Kansas on January 17th in Kearney, Nebraska.

The schedule also includes a multitude of Open Tournaments in which the Norsemen will compete against teams from all levels of the NCAA and NAIA, along with fellow junior college teams. Open tournaments are scheduled on Nov. 2nd in Oklahoma City; Nov. 16th in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Nov. 22nd in St. Charles, Missouri; Dec. 7th in Hays, Kansas; and Jan. 25th in Warrensburg, Missouri. The team will also travel to Wichita, Kansas on Dec. 14th for the Jet Invitational at Newman University; and Dec. 4th for a dual meet with Oklahoma City University and Lindenwood-Belville University.

NEO will also participate for the first time in school history in Fort Wayne, IN. as part of the National Wrestling Coaches Association NJCAA Dual Meet Championships on January 9th and10th. The final events will include the NJCAA West Central Qualifier on Feb. 14th in Colby, Kansas, and the NJCAA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on Feb. 27th and 28th.

According to Coach Renfro, "We are excited with the challenges presented by this schedule, especially Oklahoma State. It will be important to learn from each contest as we move forward toward Des Moines, Iowa and the National Championship at the end of February."
