Newman University will close out their dual schedule by hosting Ft. Hays State University. The dual starts at 7:00 PM in Fugate Gymnasium.

Manhattan vs. Derby HS will square off at 5:00 PM prior to the college dual.

Here is a pretty cool video about Newman University.

Excellent! Get out and watch some great HS and College Wrestling.

Fort Hays State 39, Newman 3

285: Dakota Gulley, FHSU, won by forfeit.

125: Dustin Reed, NU, dec. Adam Ludwin 4-0.

Reed got going with the first takedown of the match late in the first period, and bumped his lead to 3-0 with a second-period escape. When Ludwin chose down to start the third, Reed rode him for the last two minutes to pick up the win.

133: Anthony Calderon, FHSU, dec. Jake Gentzler 3-1.

After a first period that saw shots but neither wrestler getting close to a takedown, Calderon struck first with a second-period takedown, and followed it shortly after with a takedown to up his lead. Gentzler was able to escape quickly in the third, but couldn't manage the tying takedown.

141: Jacob Kay, FHSU, pinned Garrett Whitson 1:43.

Kay one the fight for the first takedown and was able to record the fall along the edge of the mat.

149: Bradley Little, FHSU, pinned Forlanda Parker 2:46.

Little converted the first takedown of the match off a single-leg and worked to lock up the cradle and the fall.

157: Joey Dozier, FHSU, dec. Colton Duhr 3-1.

Duhr escaped a couple of solid shots from Dozier in the first, but the Tiger grappler was able to ride for much of the second period, and get two back points before Duhr slid out to make it 2-1 entering the final period. Duhr cut Dozier's riding time before letting him up with about 30 seconds left, but a solid shot by Duhr was fought off along the edge of the mat as time expired to allow Dozier to escape with the win.

165: Kregg Clarke, FHSU, dec. Noel Torres 5-2.

Clarke got a takedown to start things off before Torres managed an escape before the first period was over and another escape to start the second, tying things at 2-2. Clarke earned another takedown to take the lead and hold on for the win.

174: Dylan Wiesner, FHSU, won by forfeit.

184: No. 6 Jon Inman, FHSU, dec. Kyle Ryan 7-0.

Inman managed the first takedown, and turned it into a 3-0 lead with an escape early in the second. Another takedown in the third helped Inman pull away, although Ryan turned a fall in the two's first meeting into a decision.

197: Cash Drylie, FHSU, dec. Dalton Weidl 7-5.

Weidl cut it to a one-point margin with an escape early in the second period, but Drylie responded quickly with another takedown to make it 4-1. An escape and a takedown to open the third stretched the lead, although Weidl managed to cut it to 7-5 with a late takedown.
