Good job to all of those involved here. It looks like the efforts spent trying to develop a D1 program may be better directed at KSU. I know KU has money, just saw yesterday where they had another 10 million dollar donation for the basketball team. What is going on at KU regarding their club program though? I also know that the offer was made for some on KU and KSU club teams to wrestle prior to a D1 dual in the KC area. This would be a great opportunity for the clubs to do their own thing to help in the promotion of D1 wrestling in Kansas. What has happened with that? It would also be great to do some kind of a dual in the Wichita area, possibly at Newman. Either the two teams could go against each other, or possibly Newman could schedule a dual with one of the two teams. I know that some of these wrestlers will likely face each other in some opens and it would be good to see. Great to see the progress being made at KSU.

Mike:

Aaron Sweazy and I did get in contact with Nathan Hartshorne the KU Club president about the possibility of the KU club and the KSU club meeting at the MU home opener against Stanford in Kansas City at Oak Park High School. Aaron indicated that he had contacted the MU head wrestling coach and that he was on board with the mini-dual between the two clubs before the MU and Stanford dual. Nathan said that he contacted the KSU coach but that it was determined in their conversation that it was not going to work out. I would like to see a KU NCWA Wrestling Booster Club develop that would rival the one at KSU. Hopefully that will happen but I think it would be more likely to happen if we could get some Lawrence wrestling community involved to the same level that the Manhattan wrestling community is involved.

Shane Miller, Klint Deere, myself and Nathan did meet in Lawrence a few weeks ago to try to come up with some coaching and possible funding help for the KU club this year. I believe that we will be getting Nathan some coaching help this year via Shane and Klint. Klint also had some good funding ideas for the club. Funding is a problem that limits the number of meets that the club can enter due to travel type expenses. The club receives a minimal amount from the university. I would like to be able to also get some travel money for Shane and Klint to assist them with personal expenses to make the practices. Both of them will be traveling from outside of Lawrence to practices.

Right now I have been talking to NWMissouri State and KState about being the "prematch" prior to MU-Stanford. NWMSU has submitted roughly 4-5 names for the competition. KState we are still waiting on. Hopefully all goes planned.

Did KSU compete in the Lindenwood Open? If so how did they do?

Lindewood had 7 in the finals with 5 champs. I don't suspect the same success at the CMSU open.
