Matt Murray is wrestling varsity at 141 for the University of Nebraska.

Jack Dennis is wrestling varsity for the University of Northern Illinois at 197 pounds.

Zach Roberson is still at Iowa State.

Shawn Bunch is still in the line up at Edinboro.

Have any other Kansas HS grads found their way into the varsity line-up at NCAA DI schools?

Mike - Dusty Spaulding's not wrestling varsity for Nebraska this year. That is the spot that Matt Murray took. (141 lbs) Congratulations to Matt. Not sure however, but it sounded to me like Dusty was capable of making varsity at 149 if he was allowed to.

Thanks for the information. I saw that Matt was wrestling at the 141 spot, but didn't know if it was a permanent varsity position. I agree, congratulations to Matt! I hope Dusty will be able to claim the 149 lb spot.

Sherlock, are you sure that those are varsity spots?

Joe is the backup to Matt Anderson at Iowa. He lost both of his wrestle-offs with Matt by 2-0 and 3-1 scores.

Mike,
Matt Turner will start at 174 for Missouri.
Chris McCormick started last year at 133 as a true freshman.(Will likely redshirt this year)
Austin DeVoe will see time at 125 this year.
Clint Freeman did have some varsity time a couple of years ago.

Dusty Spaulding just had knee surgery 3 weeks ago. I just saw him at the UNO Open and he is recovering right now. Maybe look for him in the line-up later in the season like after Christmas Break.

Thanks for the info. Knew that Bork and Polley were both at Stanford, but did not see them in recent dual match scores. And had a brain cramp in forgetting about Bo at OU. Looks like Dyer had a great outing at the Missouri Open as Lambrecht beat him in the finals by a 4-0 count. Lawrenz wrestled at Omaha, but I didn't think he had cracked the varsity line-up yet.

Murray beat Spaulding last year at the Worthington Open. I am uncertain as to whether they had ranked this year before Dusty's surgery. Either of them will have to wrestle well to displace Shufelt at 149, as he is nationally ranked and back after qualifying for the big dance as a freshman.

Good luck to all KS HS grads as they compete at the next level.

Thanks Les,

Joe beat Jarvis 14-8 (Jarvis was ranked as high as 12th). Anderson has until the middle of February to return to 157. Joe told me it was up to the coaches and his job is to make the coach's decision easy.

Talked to Jacob in December and I asked him about Hoover. Apparently Doug wasn't enrolled at Nebraska until January.

Jacob has won his last 3 matches and is currently ranked 20th nationally.

Spaulding was in the line up tonight for Nebraska vs Missouri. Dusty lost to Reese. Other Kansas kids in the dual were Jacob Kline for Nebraska and Chris McCormick for Missouri. Unfortunately they all lost. Missouri won the duel 24 - 14.

Bo Maynes was just picked to wrestle in the NCAA 125# All-Star match on Monday. He is one of the replacements for the Fleeger/Lee match.

I think Zac is not fourth with a bullet having beaten No. 1, 3 and lost an overtime to 2 in the last two weeks. He is on a roll and is going to be hard to beat in the ncaa's.
