I seen on themat.com where army had its wrestleoffs but it didn't list the results, I was wondering if Michael Sprigg is varsity this year or not.

Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

Wow. Heavyweights going that long. They must have been on the verge of death. Great to see Sprigg win it.

Yet another Kansas wrestler starting for a DI wrestling team, not bad for a state that doesn't produce DI talent.

Last year Leadingfox and Ubben went 5 OT sessions at the FHSU Open the following round Josh went another 5 OT with a guy from Missouri Baptist if I recall. I'm curious since Sprigg and this senior wrestled so close as to what will happen? Does the Army do a Redshirt?

Aaron,
I wrestled at West Point....many years ago. They do not do redshirting because once you graduate you get commissioned in the Army as a Lieutenant and you owe 5 years of active duty service.
Not sure if they still do it this way but when I was there we wrestled 2 kids per each weight at varsity until the end of the season before the Eastern Conf. tournament.
One of my old teammates is the "Officers Rep" for the current West Point team. If you have detailed questions or need info please contact me and I will contact him in the future.
I currently live in Leavenworth and don't know Michael Sprigg but if he or his parents (or any other KS wrestler considering one of the academies) want to contact me and get an idea on what the academies are like, what life in the service is like, etc., please feel free to contact me.
I literally am where I am today because of great people that supported kids wrestling when I was younger....I am more than happy to give a little back. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Take care and God bless!

Great reply Shawn. I'm bumping this up. We have I believe 4 or 5 wrestlers on Academy rosters as of last year that I knew.
