Seven Wrestlers in Medal Matches at Reno Tournament of Champions


RENO, Nevada --- The wrestling team has seven individuals wrestling in medal matches Sunday evening in the top six weight classifications at the Reno Tournament of Champions. The medal matches were underway as of 10 p.m. ET.

Wrestling for top places for the Mocs are Javier Maldonado at 125 pounds, Josh Keefe and Matt Keller at 133, Michael Keefe at 141, Wayne French at 149, Jake Yost at 157 and Daniel Peterson at 165.
Keller will compete against Nathan Morgan for the 133-pound title.

As a team, the Mocs had earned 45 points at the last update, good for sixth place ahead of Cal-Davis, Arizona State, Cal State-Fullerton and Boise State. Oklahoma State leads the field with 101.5 points, followed by Central Michigan, Northwestern, Penn State and Oregon.

Petersen won that match vs. Evering 9-4 and then lost by md to Northwestern's Will Durkee 9-0. If he would have beaten Durkee he would have placed Top 6. The Erwin kid that beat him on the front side didn't even place but wrestled Hendricks of OSU to a 2pt differential.
