In just a few short hours, I will be heading out for Fargo, North Dakota. The home of North Dakota State University, the Fargodome, and the site of the 33rd annual Cadet and Junior Nationals.

I am looking forward to reporting on some great action and finally getting the answers to a few questions. Will Tanner Gardner defend his National title in Greco? How will Danny Grater fair with his move into the Junior division as he strives for another title? Will Jordan Bedore kick in the door and announce his presence? How about McCormick and young Baker? How will Cornejo, Kreighbaum, Nothern, and Fitzgerald compete? The answers to these questions and dozens more are at hand.

Though this is a wrestling tourney, I feel that in this tournament especially, it is more about who is going to "toe-the-line." Handling the pressure, coping with stress, and focusing on the immediate task at hand; will be the goal. The National team coaches have prepared them. They have enough knowledge in their "toolboxes." Now ... it's time to get it done!

Keep reading this site for updates on the action. If you have any suggestions contact Mike Juby or myself. Expect the first report from Fargo soon!

Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

Ditto, Randy. Thanks for providing your insight. It is appreciated.

http://www.intermatwrestle.com will have continuous updates as the tournament progresses - but you have to be a member of their premium service to get the most up-to-date info. Cost is not too great and I've found it to be worthwhile.

http://www.themat.com is also providing reports. They have pretty good coverage and its free!

themat.com had posted the Fargo entries by state and, unfortunately Jordan Bedore's name was not included. Had heard he is spending the summer preparing for football - which is his chosen pursuit following high school. I understand that nearly every Big 12 school has contacted him and that a couple of them are falling all over themselves to land him.

I only hope that his chosen school does not forbid him from trying to win his 3rd state title.

Univ of Nebraska told Lance Lewis he should not compete in wrestling his senior year back in '87-'88 - and it was a real crime for those of us who enjoyed watching him compete and competing against him.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one.

At any rate, GO GET 'EM TEAM KANSAS! And good luck to all.

Is the Kansas list complete on http://www.themat.com on participants?

I don't see any heavyweights listed! Isn't Sponsel going Greco or Freestyle?

I haven't looked at what's on themat.com yet, so I'm not sure if they're complete or not. Randy & I are currently working up summaries of some of the day's action, which we hope to post in the next hour or so (it was a long session, and it's taking us a while to put everything together).

One thing that I have finished updating is the records that we maintain on this website, which does include all Kansas kids. You can find this by going to http://www.usawks.com and clicking on "updates" in the first item under Breaking News. I also hope to get some pictures posted, as well.

Regrettably, Sponsel decided not to come to Fargo this year.

Just a quick note of thanks for the updates. Maggie and I've both really enjoyed keeping up with the young men from Kansas.

Looks like Erisman did very well...The 152-pound final ended in 1:44 as Neil Erisman of Kansas scored a few throws to exposure for a 10-0 technical fall over Jake Kerr of Iowa.
