Kansas went 4-1 in pool duals, finishing in second behind Michigan. By finishing in the top two in pool duals, Kansas qualifies for the championship pools and is guaranteed placing in the top eight for the fourth year in a row for greco-roman competition. There are 25 teams entered in greco.
It is probable that Kansas will take on the two-time defending champions Minnesota in the opening round of the championship pool tomorrow afternoon starting at 1:30.

Thanks Kit,
It's nice to be updated seeing how I can't be there... Sounds like team Kansas did well. Keep us posted.

What a tough pool, Kansas was placed with quite a challenging pool in the freestyle competition. After a tough hard-fought loss to Minnesota, we rebounded to defeat Indiana before getting it taken to us by Iowa. We again rebounded for a win over Idaho and were faced with our final dual against Ohio. Ohio had defeated Iowa and was sitting to place second in our pool and advance into the championship placing round, unless we could knock them off. An inspired Kansas team outfought Ohio in an exciting dual that came down to the heavyweight match with Bishop Carroll's Ryan "Mr. Clutch" Sponsel once again coming through for us with an exciting 8-4 victory. This created a three-way tie for second, after the tie-breaker points were tallied, Iowa finished second in the pool, Ohio third, and Kansas fourth...but the win over a very good Ohio team was a great way to end what was a tough day of freestyle!
Tomorrow, Kansas will be in the consolation bracket in a single elimination fight to 9th place.

Kanss Silver was defeated by Oklahoma Outlaws this morning, then won their final match of the pool by defeating Colorado Silver. Scores and results will be posted later. Both Kansas Gold and Kansas Silver were placed in the consolation bracket to compete for 9th place. Kansas Gold defeated Arizona by a 41-27 scored to advance to the quarterfinals to face off with Illinois tomorrow morning. It will take two more wins to put Kansas Gold in the consolation finals. Kansas Silver was defeated by Idaho Fury to be eliminated from the competition with a 1-6 record. Kansas Gold is 4-2 in freestyle so far. We will be checking out of the hotel tomorrow morning as we leave for competition, so I do not think I will have access to a computer to post results. I will try to do what I can. Perhaps http://www.themat.com will have the updated results. The kids have all wrestled hard and represented Team Kansas well. This has been a tough and fun tournament. We have won many duals and matches and are certainly considered as one of the tougher states here. Even if we lost a dual, we were rarely outright dominated. Kansas should be proud of the direction our state is headed as far as Greco-Roman and Freestyle. Thanks for everyone's support. Kit Harris
