I am a technology guy and am admittedly biased; I think that if we have an opportunity to use technology to improve the experience of many and reduce the workload of the folks involved in these processes, we should seriously consider doing it.

In looking at the process today, it seems to be good fit for going online, especially considering what the other states do. What negatives are associated with this?

If club control was an issue, I'd think the process could be setup so the clubs perform the registration online vs. the parents. Even though having a card doesn't guarantee club participation this would allow the clubs to maintain control of whom they have registered. I'm not sure that is even needed but could be an option.

It seems the up-sides are many without obvious downsides.
