Cornejo pinned Zousa?

All I have learned is that he got pinned in the second period. What else happened during their match? Who got the first take down?

The first period ended in a 0-0 tie. Cornejo chose bottom to start the second. With a quick escape and even quicker takedown, a front headlock to an outside lace (very sweet looking), he found himself up 3-0. Cornejo stuck the legs in, working for a tilt, and the next thing Zouzas knew he was on his back as the ref called a fall.

Wow. How'd Zouzas take it afterwards? Did he throw a fit or gracious shake hands and walk off? I imagine he was in shock. I wonder when it was the last time that he got beat, let alone pinned. Good job for him to wrestle back to third.

Zouzas was ahead 1-0 in the second period. Luke responded like the champion he is. He shook hands and walked off. From what I saw more wrestlers could probably learn from Luke's example about how to act like a champion in victory or defeat.

Gran5 I couldn't agree with you more. With everyone's attention on that match the pressure must have been tremendous. He handled the loss like a champ. What class. I saw some winners who were not nearly so gracious.

Um if anyone happened to actually watch the Zouzas/ Cornejo match afterwords you would have seen Zouzas rip off his singlet (yes I did say RIP) and go off somewhere...that's when I decided to hide from the beast.

Zouzas escaped in the second and as he did Joe shot and took him down. Next thing Zouzas was counting lights.

How many state titles had Cornejo won prior to the match and how many had Z won? This is why some of us were surprised.
